William Rogers Smith
Comments 0 | Recommend 0William Rogers Smith, 84, of the Mesic community, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Pamlico County and was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board and was a Sunday school teacher and senior choir member. His community involvement included membership in the E.R. Dudley Lodge No. 78 and the Angelic Gospel Chorus. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retiree of NADEP, Cherry Point.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. C.A. Felton Jr. officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Mesic Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Flossie Smith of the home; two daughters, Ellen Bernice Jordan of Boston and Helen R. Cox of New Bern; one sister, Zulener Credle of Mesic; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 9390 N.C. Highway 304, Mesic.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscars Mortuary, New Bern.
