Gerald Charles Gray
Gerald "Jerry" Charles Gray, 80, departed this life to be with his Father and Lord due to Alzheimer's disease on March 26, 2008 in New Bern.
He was born July 25, 1927 in Troy, N.Y. and formerly lived in Spring Hill, Fla. and Falls Church, Va. Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps and was a World War II veteran. For more than 40 years, he owned and operated Jerry's Appliance and Service Company in Falls Church, Va.
He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Jerry's greatest love was being with his beloved family and treasured friends. He enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, hunting and snow skiing and was an avid golfer in his retirement years.
Jerry is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Vivian Elaine Gray; three sons, Mark D. Carll Jr. and his wife Betsy, Timothy Lawrence Carll and his wife Julie and Paul Loudon Carll; three daughters, Vicki Anne Carll, Linda Lee Haley and her husband Jay, and Gerrie Catherine Gray Benedi and her husband Alberto; 19 grandchildren, Eliza, Leslie, Mark, Tim, Joilyn, Sam, Jake, Ryan, Josh, Shane, Tyler, Jared, Derek, Holly-Ann, Collin, Ava-Grace, Austin, Cole and Brooke; and one great-grandson, Jack.
A private service was scheduled Saturday at Annunciation Roman Catholic Church in Havelock. A memorial service in northern Virginia is being planned for a future date.
