Maxine Elliott Hirt
Maxine Elliott Hirt, 78, of Bridgeton, former resident of Morehead City and Newport, peacefully departed this life Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
Our beloved mother opened her home and heart to all, rich or poor, young or old, black or white. She knew no strangers.
Though a seamstress by trade, she was known for her cooking. At home she would always prepare more than needed just in case family or friends stopped by. She is truly a child of God and has gone to be with Him now.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Munden Funeral Home chapel, Morehead City.
Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport.
She is survived by one brother, Allen Elliott and wife, Retha, of Newport; two sisters, Bonnie Schaner and husband Richard of Kentwood, Hawaii, and Edna Mae Ewell and husband Al of Driver, Va.; four children, Milton E. Taylor and wife Darlene of Winter Springs, Fla., Cynthia T. Long and husband Lewis of Mebane, Edna Shelton and husband Jimmy Dean of Chester, Va., and Pam Hirt and husband Amos of New Bern; six grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Bailey Hirt; her parents, Eli Elliott and Lola Elliott of Newport; and her sisters, Barbara Swinson of Norfolk, Va., and Lillian Wilcox of Arapahoe.
Viewing will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
