Letter: Kritter Rescue Squad appreciates donation
Comments 0 | Recommend 0words how grateful we are to the following?
First to Karen Gardner. God bless you for coming up with the idea to help the abandoned animals in this county. I'm sure a lot of hard work went into it.
As part of the Kritter Rescue Squad in Havelock, I can say we still haven't come down to earth after the contributions that will feed our kitties for months.
We even got money that will be used for vet bills.
One project we are working toward is surgery for one of our boys who needs his leg amputated, and the goal is about $350 to $400.
Next, thanks to the Sun Journal and the Havelock News for caring enough about this project to back it. Without their support it could never have happened.
Karen and a co-worker helped me load our share into the truck, and when we walked into the area where all the contributions were stored, I just lost it and cried.
Melanie Lee at the Havelock News helped me put more food and litter on the truck and later brought more donated items, going out of her way to help us.
God bless the people who contributed so much because they must have a love for animals like those of us who can't say no to an abandoned critter.
Sometimes when the going gets tough, we can remember this event and grin for the rest of the day.
This county kills more than 7,000 animals a year, and the irresponsible people who do not spay or neuter are totally to blame for those deaths.
We have been in this for a little more than two years and have rescued 343 cats and a few dogs. All of the dogs were adopted, and about 325 of the cats got homes with great families.
This was an event we will long remember, and again we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
