Havelock plans Arbor Day plantings

Havelock News

The city of Havelock will celebrate Arbor Day by planting about 50 trees at the Havelock Recreation Complex off Fontana Boulevard.

Volunteers are being sought to help plant the trees. Holes will be dug in advance, and mulch and water will be available.

The planting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., and refreshments will be provided by the Havelock Appearance Commission.

Havelock won a $3,583 grant from the N.C. Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program through the N.C. Division of Forestry Resources in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service.

Volunteers are also being sought to help with maintenance of the trees after they have been planted.

For more information or to register to volunteer, contact Diane Miller with the city of Havelock at 444-7260 or by e-mail at DMiller@HavelockNC.US.
