Havelock chamber celebrates success
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Havelock Chamber of Commerce celebrated a successful year with its annual Christmas party Saturday night at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center.
The evening featured a dinner and dance as well as a presentation of the chamber’s annual awards.
The I Love Havelock award went to Debbie and Terry Holmes of Smithfield’s Chicken and Barbecue in Havelock.
They were honored for their contributions and support of the chamber and the Havelock community, which included organization of a cancer benefit run for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Business appearance awards were presented to Make it Personally Yours, Smithfield’s Chicken and Barbecue, 70 West Veterinary Hospital, Diesel Draught Haus, the Sound of Freedom Shoppes, and Donna Commer State Farm Insurance.
The chamber volunteer of the year award went to Jeff Brown, who has helped with the design of the chamber Web site.
The award for new chamber member of the year went to Kathleen Cook, while Pack and Mail Plus was named the Chamber Member of the Year.
The chamber board’s four outgoing members were recognized. Jim Beasley, Gary Baldree, Brenda Wilson and Lou Balough had their terms expire, and Stephanie Duncan, executive director of the Havelock Chamber of Commerce, presented them awards of appreciation and thanked each for their contributions to the board.
The chamber board’s four newest members, elected in November, were presented to the crowd. Pete Gante, Frank Amato, Megan McGarvey and Jim Daub, were sworn in and will begin serving this month.
