Because of the relative ease of getting around on our flat, cement tarmac, the Cherry Point Air Show serves a great venue for entertaining our handicapped and special needs groups.
INDIVIDUAL HANDICAPPED ATTENDEES
If you're planning on attending any of the three "open to the public" air shows, here are some helpful hints to make your air show experience exciting and easier:
- Arrive early. Three handicapped areas will be provided for wheelchair bound attendees directly on the flightline, but they will inevitably fill up fast.
- Parking - several parking lots will designated for handicapped attendees. Please post your handicapped parking privilege is visible and the military police escorts will direct you accordingly. Because of space limitations, we encourage you to arrive early.
- Be prepared. Security will be tight and all bags will be checked. If you have special medications, please note them to the military police officer upon entry. Also note that you will be on an open, flat, cement, tarmac for the entire day. Bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and ear plugs.
- Guests with Special Needs: Handicap Parking Areas and Transportation Guests with handicap parking passes should enter the Air Show Event via the Main Gate of MCAS Cherry Point which is located off Highway 101. There will be transportation from the handicap parking area to the handicap seating area. Due to limited transportation and seating, only 1 person may accompany the special needs guest.
