Marines show appreciation
Maj. Gen. Kenneth J. Glueck Jr., right, commanding general of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, presents a certificate of appreciation and an American flag that was flown in Iraq to Mike Gray, owner of Gray’s Texaco in Havelock.
Gray received the honor after he drove 900 miles to help a Marine with car trouble get home to see his family in Illinois in September. During last week’s presentation, Gray thanked his wife, Sheila, for supporting him in driving Joey Medill home, and said he felt the young Marine just needed a break, which is why he decided to make the journey.

| That is what this community is about, people helping those most in need. I have taken my vehicles to Grays and have never had problems. They are always so helpful and want to do the right thing. Mike is really great to work with and very friendly. He would give you the shirt off his back to help out, if needed. |
