Bessie Benjamin Davis
Bessie Benjamin Davis, 102, of 615 Pine St., Beaufort,died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at her residence.
She was a native of Havelock and former member of West Street United Church of Christ. She moved to Beaufort and became a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church, The Dawn of Day Club and the Old Eastern M.B. Association. Her years of employment included serving as matron at the Orphanage of Oxford for 23 years.
Funeral will be noon Saturday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. C.O. Donald officiating.
Burial will follow in the Benjamin Family Cemetery, Havelock.
She is survived by her sister, Ethel Richardson-Brown of Bronx, N.Y.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscar’s Mortuary, New Bern, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
