Eugene A. Bowen
Eugene A. Bowen, 81, of Newport, and formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at the Hospice House of Greenville after an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Thosas, Va. He was a retired aviation logistics supply captain from the Marine Corps with 28 years of service, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Newport Masonic Lodge No. 706 AF and AM, a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Sudan Shrine Temple. He was also member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Newport Lodge No. 2194.
Service will be noon Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, with Pastor Jim Daub of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Havelock officiating. Entombment with military rites will follow at the Gethsemane Memorial Park Mausoleum, Morehead City.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nellie Goad Bowen; one son, Bobby Ray of Newport; two brothers, Delbert B. Bowen of Waxhaw and Thomas W. Bowen of Rockwell; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
