Working on the railroad

Crews from the N.C. Department of Transportation begin repairs to the railroad track crossing on Fontana Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon. The state highway will be closed between Roosevelt Boulevard and Cunningham Boulevard - between Cherry Point's two gates - as work continues to make the crossing smoother for drivers. The repairs could be complete as early as Friday. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible and should expect some traffic delays, especially around rush hours for Cherry Point and Fleet Readiness Center East.
