Traffic stops net arrests
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Two traffic stops Monday night produced the arrests of two men wanted in Havelock on outstanding warrants for felony drug charges.
Jason Aaron Watson, 29, of Beaufort, was stopped at a N.C. Highway Patrol checkpoint on McCabe Road in Carteret County Monday evening. Watson had warrants for his arrest on charges of conspiracy to sell and deliver a controlled substance, which was cocaine, according to Havelock Police Chief G. Wayne Cyrus.
Cyrus said the charges against Watson came as a result of an investigation by Havelock narcotics officers that occurred in August.
Aaron Blue Parker, 24, of Dudley, was stopped for a vehicle violation and then arrested Monday by Raleigh Police who discovered an outstanding warrant for a charge of possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance, which was cocaine, Cyrus said.
He said the drug charge came as a result of an undercover drug operation conducted in 2007. He said confidential informants and narcotics officers identified Parker during the undercover drug operation.
Watson and Parker were transported to the Craven County Jail, posted bond and have since been released.
