  • After winning two of three games during the Pitt County Easter Tournament, the Havelock High baseball team got back into Coastal 3A Conference play with a 6-5 victory over White Oak Tuesday night in Jacksonville.

  • After winning two of three games during the Pitt County Easter Tournament, the Havelock High baseball team got back into Coastal 3A Conference play with a 6-5 victory over White Oak Tuesday night in Jacksonville.
    Trailing 5-4, Havelock (9-9, 3-5) scored twice in the top of the fifth inning, and Josh Little pitched hitless baseball over the final 1 2/3 innings, earning the save.
    Cameron Carpenter got the victory on the mound, giving up two earned runs on seven hits but striking out five in 5 1/3 innings.
    Drew Simcox paced Havelock at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Little was 2-for-4, while Carpenter and Luke Magyar each collected a hit and drove in a run. Tanner Johnson and Justice Provencher collected Havelockís other hits.
    The Rams won despite making four errors, their fifth victory in the last six games.
    Havelock is next scheduled to play Swansboro at 7 p.m. Friday at Havelock High.
