The Havelock Board of Commissioners has scheduled two days of business meetings as part of its annual retreat this week.

The meetings are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the meeting room of the West End Fire Station near Tucker Creek.

The meetings are open to the public, but in general, no public comment is taken.

The meetings are expected to cover a variety of city issues, including budget planning and figures for the 2014-15 fiscal year that begins in July. Other long-range city projects and issues are also expected to be discussed, including plans for the Slocum Creek Historic Park.

The annual retreat often includes information from all city departments, including recreation, public services, water and sewer, fire, and police.

The purpose of the meeting is to give commissioners a better understanding of city issues and departments as planning for the next fiscal year budget takes place.
