In July 2013, I applied for and received a business license from the city of Havelock. In order to be eligible for a business license, you must first be granted a zoning permit, which I applied for and received.
Now, after 30 days of doing business, the city planning/zoning office has found my business to be in violation of city ordinances, by their error. This has nothing to do with any rules or violations that my business or other sweepstakes businesses violated. This was solely an error made by the city planning/zoning office. As we speak, this ordnance is being amended by the city, and hopefully the matter will be resolved and I will be able to reopen.
At this time, I would like to thank Commissioner Danny Walsh for his help in this matter and also point out Commissioner Walsh is the only successful businessman who sits on the Board of Commissioners. Mr. Walsh is at his business seven days a week and is always readily available and accessible to any other business owners.
I would also like to thank Mayor Jimmy Sanders for his help in this matter. I’d also like to take this opportunity to salute the voters for voting for and to continue to vote for Mayor Sanders. Over the last 30 days I have learned more about Mayor Sanders’ love and concerns for the citizens and its businesses in Havelock than I have in the last 30 years.
