A 17-year-old Havelock High School student was arrested last week for having brass knuckles in his book bag.

Israel McClure has been charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, according to Lt. Brian Borton of the Havelock Police Department.

Borton said that McClure was in class when a teacher saw the brass knuckles in his bag. School Resource Officer Brad Elam was called and the weapon was found in the bag after a search.

Borton said that there was no altercation affiliated with McClure’s arrest.

McClure is scheduled to appear in Craven County District Court on Nov. 7.
