  • Company solves the world's biggest problem

  • The world in which we live has plenty of problems: hunger, poverty, global warming and bikini calendars that get ruined in water.

Well, you can scratch that last one off the list thanks to the entrepreneurs at a company called Unigirl USA.
I received a press release — one of many I received last week — but none carried such important news as the one from Unigirl. It touted the company’s creation of the "world’s first waterproof bikini calendar."
Oh sure, you may scoff at this idea, but who wants their bikini calendar ruined because someone spills a drink on it?
Dare I say, no one. See, not so crazy after all.
As part of the release, Unigirl said it was announcing the production of "the world’s first completely waterproof calendar featuring Canada’s most attractive and intelligent female post-secondary students," according to the release.
Now, I could make some joke here at Canada’s expense about the ability of the country to find both attractive and intelligent female students, but I’ll skip that one in favor of staying on topic.
Apparently, the calendars use some "high-tech polymer" to protect the paper from getting ruined if it gets wet, smeared with mustard, covered with pizza, soaked in beer or smothered in chicken wing sauce.
The company actually has a YouTube video — I watched it purely for research purposes mind you — that demonstrates how its bikini calendars are protected under such circumstances, while a normal calendar is ruined and tears apart.
"Now the exceptionally beautiful and intelligent women that grace our pages will stay pristine," company founder and president Sanford Siddall is quoted as saying in the release.
Yep, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a bikini calendar ruined because I spilled mustard on it.
Well, OK. I don’t ever recall having a bikini calendar, and I don’t even like mustard, but I’m sure you see my point.
The company says it is marketing the waterproof bikini calendars to college students, adding that thousands use the product to "get organized."
Sure, because if I was in college, getting organized is exactly what I would use a bikini calendar for. I mean, what else would they be used for? Certainly not just to look at.
Siddall said in the release that the creation of the waterproof bikini calendar will "revolutionize" the industry.
"We’re shocked that Maxim, or Sports Illustrated Swimsuit haven’t thought of this already and proud to be the first to the market!" he said.
Yeah, shocked is probably the right word.
Page 2 of 2 - I will say the company donates 10 percent of sales to charity, and you can go to the website www.unigirlusa.com for more details.
I went to the website — again purely for research — and noticed a variety of calendars available. Unigirl may not be able to solve the world’s problems, but at the least, it looks like they make a nice calendar.
