Jackie Beach was given a fond farewell Sunday at the Havelock Public Library.
Jackie Beach, retiring regional director of the Craven-Pamlico-Carteret Regional Library System, was given a fond farewell Sunday at the Havelock Public Library.
Beach received lots of hugs as well-wishers flocked to the library Sunday afternoon to bid her goodbye during a retirement party.
Co-workers Sunday described her as passionate about her work.
“I have enjoyed working with her. She empowers her employees to do a good job,” Vanessa Mullis said.
Deirdra Simmons, business manager of the regional library, described Beach as a very nice woman to work along side.
“She is family oriented. She lets us do our job,” Simmons said.
Beach had been a librarian for 37 years. She has been the regional director for 16 years. And Beach worked for six hours Saturday as she prepared to leave her post.
“I just wanted to get everything in its place,” she said.
“She has done an outstanding job with the 10 libraries in the region,” said Judy Bird, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Havelock Library.
Beach said she thought the retirement party was wonderful.
“I have been blessed. I have worked with wonderful employees and citizens. I want to thank everyone,” Beach said.
She said she’s not quite sure what is in store for her now that she’s knock working for the regional library system.
“I don’t know yet what to think about retirement,” she said.
